Located across from the Army War College in beautiful Carlisle PA, LeBlanc’s Sunnyside Restaurant has been under new ownership since mid-December (2010) when Patrick LeBlanc, a native of Carlisle, bought the 63-year old restaurant. Located just minutes from I-81 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, LeBlanc’s Sunnyside Restaurant offers you a unique dining experience.

Whether dining with the family after a long work week, or looking for a romantic place to bring a date or celebrating a memorable occasion, LeBlanc’s Sunnyside Restaurant will make your dining experience something to remember. Choose to dine on our relaxing, outdoor patio, or in one of our small private dining rooms, or host a reception or banquet in our large dining room.
Speaking of private rooms – Sunnyside has a room in honor of the military. It is decked out with pictures of men and women who have served as well as military flags representing each branch. Call to reserve that room today!
Whatever your need, the staff at LeBlanc’s Sunnyside is always willing to assist you. We offer custom catering as well. Come enjoy many of the great changes such as a new, mouthwatering menu, live acoustic music on the patio, and a delicious brunch buffet on Sundays from 10am – 3pm.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, the new owner of Sunnyside had no choice but to close its doors. With the economy of the United States in shambles, a great number of people out of work, CAR SHOW attendance down from previous years, horrible weather over the past year, it’s no wonder the restaurant had to shut down. Prior to the new owner purchasing the Sunnyside one year ago, the restaurant had been owned and operated by one family who no longer had a mortgage to pay. The cost of food continues to rise. The cost of electricity and gas has continued to rise. The cost of beer, wine, liquor, insurance, etc. Continues to rise. Folks need to consider how their own personal budgets are tightening and how hard it is to get buy month to month. People just don’t have the extra funds to eat out at a restaurant that can’t possibly offer “buy one get one free deals” deals that the chains can offer. The cost to run business doesn’t allow for that but the chains have the means to make offers like this as well as to advertise. The new owner is heartbroken as this was a lifelong dream for him. He not only closed the door of a business, he closed the doors on a dream.
Having eaten there several times I can say the food is excellent. The service is very good and the atmosphere is very nice. There are large dining rooms and if you want a cozy dining experience there are several small dining rooms with interesting themes. Give it a try or you will miss out on what I think is the best restaurant in Carlise Pa.
Sunnyside is now closed. The new owner was unable to keep it open.
We’ve visited several times and LOVE this place. The food is great, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere inviting. LOVE the outdoor eating option in the warm weather. ALso LOVE all the unique rooms. We highly recommend!!!

Most of the reviews on here are very old. “LeBlanc’s” Sunnyside is a run by a new owner with new menu and interior. I have found it has great food, great atmosphere for adults and families alike! The new owners are wonderful, welcoming people. Give it a try, you will agree!
LeBlanc’s Sunnyside is fantastic now since the new owner took over. If you haven’t been there lately, I recommend you try it! Food and service has greatly improved! Check out the crab cakes, filet mignon, and the new homemade soups! The new Sunday Brunch is wonderful too — a much needed thing in Carlisle.
BEST RESTAURANT IN CARLISLE!!!!!
Thanks for your comment, Pat! The new owner, Patrick LeBlanc, is making great strides to improve Sunnyside and turn it back around. When he was a kid growing up in Carlisle, Sunnyside was “the place to go”. Having left Carlise for several years, he returned to the area shortly after purchasing Sunnyside. Unfortunately, he had no idea of the negative reviews it was getting. His background in food service and his talent in recipe creation and food preparation have made a difference already! He has made other positive changes too to include an enthusiastic new staff, new hours, live entertainment on the patio, a room newly decorated in honor of our military, and a new Sunday brunch! In addition, he always makes an effort to meet and greet 90% of his customers in order to personally welcome and thank them for choosing his establishment. His own children are entwined in the business as well. I just ask Carlisle to have an open mind and try it again! Give a hometown boy a chance!
We felt like we had stepped back into the 80′s with the colors and decor. The food was so-so. The service was horrible! Case and point: We went for lunch and were one of about three parties. The server lost (yes, lost) our credit card. We sat for 30 minutes while the entire staff searched for our credit card. The waitress then requested our name, address, and phone number (would you like our social security number too???) and said that she would contact us when it was found. Not wanting to give our personal information to someone we didn’t know and who may also have our credit card, we continued to wait. Luckily, another server found the card near the bar glasses (not in the convenient little black folder) and we quickly scurried out of the place. Needless to say, we won’t be returning!
Correct. Sunny side Has seen better days.
Worst meal I’ve had in Carlisle. Bad, tough steak with some black rubber things in water that were supposed to be sauteed mushrooms. Decor was depressing. Everything was overpriced, Service was good. Won’t go back.
I was just there a couple weeks ago, although it was a Tuesday evening, and maybe the people who are hard to please were there on hectic evenings. My food and service was great, in fact, I am having my wedding reception there in one of the banquet rooms. I drove up from North Carolina for the sole purpose of checking things out before I committed to the venue, and it passed with flying colors.
My husband and I enjoy eating at Sunnyside (since we moved here 7 years ago). We always have good service and the food is better than average. The mellow atmosphere is refreshing.
Ate here years ago…years ago and it was wonderful. Ate there in April, 09 and it was the worst food I ever had. I work in the “food service” industry and that’s exactly where their dishes came from. Not home made nor chef quality. Will never, never go there again. I’m not adverse to spending money on a quality meal but this was a waste and the decor….Ugh!! horrible, horrible, horrible, depressing….I’ve been in better funeral homes. Ugh!! The only thing good was the mojito.
My wife and I had our rehersal dinner for our wedding at the sunnyside and the staff did a fantastic job. We recently went there for our 5 year anniversary and we were very well taken care of. We had called and made a reservation and they actually put us in our own little dining room. It was so quiet and nice and the waitress did an awesome job of taking care of us. She made sure our wine glasses remained full and made it a special night. The food was really good as well. I had steak and crab legs, which were prepared perfectly.
Formerly the crown jewel restaurant of Carlisle. Now an aging shadow of its former self. They still serve some decent dishes but if they could only revitalize the place by giving it a major face lift.
Service is so-so from an unenthusiastic staff.
From what I understand – they are adding a deck… not that adding a deck will increase the quality of the food, but perhaps it signifies a ‘different’ direction in the type of food? Places with decks (like the Caddyshack) have a different ‘expectation’ perhaps?
The Sunnyside is one of my favorate restraurants. The food is always great. I enjoy going there to eat.
I don’t know whay all the bad reviews – these people must be really hard to please.
I loved this restuarant!
The food was great, but the service was absolutely top notch.
bon apettit mes petits champignons!
Lousy restaurant. So-so food and the absolute worst restaurant service I have had in my 40 years. Went there for Valentine’s dinner and they ruined the evening.
I agree with carlislessilentdiner. Oscar the Grouch won’t even eat at this place. Yes, that bad.
30 years old for decor and the food was just way over priced for the poor quality
Used to be THE place in Carlisle. Seems to have lost its way over the years. Needs a good signature dish to give people a reason to go back and try again.
