Their food is adequate. Their prices are too high. They do NOT have turkey sausage. Some of their waitstaff is friendly and some is very unfriendly. [it seemed as if they know you, friendly; don’t know you, not].

Momma Sprigg’s – undoubtedly – BEST place around!! Went by during their Fish Festival last week, stopped, and boy oh boy was this the best meal we’ve had in a long time. The calamari, beer-battered cod, mixed fried platter, all of it was very fresh and tender. Couldn’t finish the great macaroni & cheese, and just had to try the Tiramisu and Cookie Dough Cheesecake. Different and too, too good not to finish. Only faults we could find: house salad was indifferent, and the wait staff needs to clear plates quicker. Steve and his wife are wonderful, concerned, personable, and the praise is justified. We’re going back this week!!

Just ate here for the 1st time. Were from GA here for the mopar carshow and this was by far the best place we’ve ate at since we’ve been here. Food and service was great.

My husband and I ate at Mamma Spriggs tonight. Very nice atmosphere and a fine staff that was so friendly. Steve stopped by to thank us for coming in. A very personable staff and their food is absolutely delicious!!! Prices are great too!!! We will be back again!!

The food at this place is outstanding…truly. The creamy crab soup is the best seafood soup I have ever had. The owners are nice and pay attention to what is going on, thus the service is good. I highly recommend it!

Our family has a “Cousin’s Night” once a month and each month we choose a different restaurant/diner to gather at. This month we choose Momma Sprigg’s and let me tell you; THE FOOD WAS HOT, DELICIOUS AND THE PORTION SIZE WAS FANTASTIC! This month there were 17 of us and the waitress could not have been any better; she was probably exhausted when we left. I had a chance to talk with the owner after our meal and such a nice and friendly gentlemen. If you haven’t tried Momma Sprigg’s yet…you don’t know what you are missing!

Mamma Spriggs is the BEST restaurant in Carlisle. Food is always wonderful and the staff is unbeatable in their manner and service. If you have not gone, make it a priority this weekend!!!

Went there for breakfast a couple of times. Food is good. Clean restaurant. Friendly staff. I recommend the sweet cream pancakes.

I ate here not long after they opened several months ago (when it was snowing one night). it was not good. havent been back since. I have talked to others that did not like it either – ordered chicken but got beef gravy, etc. Too bad little johns had to close – it was much better.

Our first visit and it was a memorable one. The food is excellent and the staff are fantastic. I can’t wait to come back and have already recommended to my friends and family.

They have DELICIOUS spaghetti (homemade sauce).
Very good place to eat! Nice people too!

I met a group of friends at Mama Spriggs on Monday at 8 am, for breakfast, they were CLOSED. They still do not have a website with their hours listed or menu. Nothing on their large roadside sign saying closed Mondays. I don’t blame them for having Monday off, I just wish they would advertise more, and email me their weekly specials.

Update: have eaten here twice now (should have been 3 times however I pulled in one day to find they were closed for a private event) and it is wonderful. The food is terrific, the staff are very nice, the decor is nice & the restroom clean. The home made potato chips are heaven. You have to try the banana split pie; it tastes just like a banana split yet I found it to be light & not overly sweet, just right. Wish I lived closer to go more often!

Fantastic dinner!!! The pork tenderloins were so tender . The apple cider salad dressing is so tasty. The corn/crab soup wonderful! Chicken mediterrain was a very tasty pasta dinner. 1st visit was critical and it passed with flying colors can’t wait to try breakfast! Its great to have a casual dining experience with fantastic food!

I was so excited to try this new restaurant and I loved it. The food was excellent, wait staff great. How often do you go out to eat and have the owners come up to you and ask if you need anything, What a great experience. When we left I said to my husband that Steve guy is like Norm on Cheers (where everybody knows your name). I will definitely go back and try the broasted chicken or the salmon two of my favorites.

I have heard great things too – but agree with another poster – a web site and/or downloadable menu would be GREAT!!!

  • May 16, 2012 at 12:00 am Diane Darlington

Alright, all these great reviews are making my mouth water! Cousin & I are planning to meet in Carlisle this week and I think I’m going to suggest this place for lunch!

Visited mama spriggs with a group of friend’s fantastic food, Great employees! Friendly atmosphere and thanks steve for the free dessert and hospitality! (:

My wife and I enjoy Momma Spriggs and often throw it into our rotation of restaurants. If you go, AND YOU SHOULD, I highly recommend the broasted chicken. One of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had. The amount of food you get for 11.95 on top of that is quite nice as well.

Thanks to the staff who were so helpful and friendly. I so totally enjoyed my late lunch generous helping of Grilled Chicken and apple cider Salad. Delicious. and the Tomato Bisque soup was OTC. I will hope that soup is always on the menu!!

Stopped tonight for our second visit. JUST as good as the first! Highly recommend everyone with in driving distance.

  • April 20, 2012 at 9:02 pm Mueller

First time and it definitely won’t be the last time!
My husband had the Carlisle Burger…BANGING!
We shared boneless wings…MEATY AND AMAZING! (not crappy rib meat you get else where)
    I had the crab cakes….DEEEELISH!
to also mention the apple blue cheese salad and sweet potato fries….YUMMY!

Five stars…give it a shot. Give back to a small business instead of a chain for once!

We have been to Momma Spriggs several times since they opened and try something different each time. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. The chicken parm is superb (and so was the lasagna). If you liked Little John’s, Momma Spriggs has the same quality food, friendly waitstaff, cleanliness, and relaxing decor. It’s nice to have this type of restaurant back in the area.

My wife and I stopped by Momma Spriggs in Carlisle today. To be honest, we weren’t expecting much. The last two (or three?) restaurants that were in there were pretty sad.
Not this time, however. What a pleasant surprise! The food was delicious, the waitstaff exemplary, and Steve, the co-owner, friendly and outgoing. I HIGHLY recommend to all of our local friends – and even those from out of town. It’s worth the drive! Will go back, often.

As a very proud and happy employee, these reviews were awesome to read. To the gentleman wanting real butter….we have packs upon request so please next time feel free to ask your server

  • March 11, 2012 at 6:35 pm Ed

Our daughter and son-in-law took us there for Sunday breakfast. We got ther too late for breakfast but they made pancakes specially for our grandaughter. We had meals off the regular menu and they were excellent. Definitely will go back.

Momma Spriggs needs to get a website up with their menu, and an active FB page telling people the daily special. If they don’t market themselves better in this economy they will go under. They have a talented chef, their bread is home made, the setting is pleasant. I love their deep fried scrapple, they should have that on as an appetizer as well as breakfast.

My husband and I have eaten at Mama Sprigg’s for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. All three experiences were very very good. A must try is the house salad dressing. (apple cider vinaigrette) The chicken with crab was excellent. They are eager to please and there is a very positive attitude from everyone. Also- the rolls are divine. Very fresh food and a nice atmosphere. I highly recommend Mama Sprigg’s!

Best place in town already. I prefer over Rillo’s for half the price…

  • February 21, 2012 at 5:03 pm Lani Anacan

Service and food were both excellent. So friendly–we wanted to talk to the owner and she came over and chatted. Sweet waitress and very nice service. We didn’t wait very long (this was breakfast). Fresh food–the owner said they have 3 or 4 deliveries a week. And we will try the salmon for dinner next time as she recommended.

I was so excited to try this new restaurant. I worked @ Little John’s for over 18 years and have been so very disappointed with each attempt at a new restaurant……until now! The food was fresh, service friendly and fast, and it felt like HOME to me! I will be going back!

  • February 20, 2012 at 11:47 am EMT379

We attempted to try it a couple of weeks ago We left after waiting over 1/2 hour just for our soup. Not very happy. However we figured the delay was due to “typical” new restaurant kinks that had not been worked out prior to opening. Thanks to the previous reviews, we WILL be going back!

    • March 4, 2012 at 8:27 am EMT379

We DID go back last night. Very good food. We had the crab cakes and salmon. Service was nearly perfect. Waitress was very friendly and personable. – only minor flaw: A gentleman asked if we wanted more water (we did) and never returned with it. One minor quibble: I’d prefer real butter (came with the baked potato) instead of the “spread” that comes with their bread. With the passing of Luigi’s this may become our “go-to” place in Carlisle.

We stopped by on Friday night and it was very good. The roast turkey with stuffing was excellent… real turkey.

We used to like Little John’s when it was in that location and have been hopping for a solid replacement since they changed hands… I think we finally have a winner! 🙂

This is an awesome new place to try!!! Real food for real people. Real mashed potatoes, everything has homemade taste. Great casual atmosphere with delicious food. Interesting choices…good luck narrowing them down!!

Thanks for the first review – I have been meaning to stop in and I may need to soon for lunch!
