Thursday 4/11/13 visited the diner on Carlisle pike on the way to CV play. ordered Roast beef mashed potatos chicken corn soup Vesal Parm/Spag salad. the meal came before the salad was half eaten. y wife had the roast beef(cold over done soup cold )was offered something else but time to get to the play didn’t alow us to wait.My veal was so tough could hardly cut.spag was ok. this is the second time we had a this type of experience.Asked the manager why I needed to pay for uneatable food, she said they offered to replace I asked her if she was really the manager she said yes and waited on the next customer. Will ever eat there again.
Ate at the middlesex diner Sun Oct 7 . What another lousy experience at this place . Took ten min to get someone to even ask me what I wanted to drink. Had a reuben sand which and french fries . The corn beef on the reuben was all minced up like it had been the left overs [portion redacted per comment policy]. Then didn’t see the waitress after that til i was finished and needed the bill . i guess they made enough money over the 5 day car show that was in town to care about the sunday evening supper crowd . I am a local and will think long and hard before i go back to this place . Arbys would have served a better reuben at half the price and half the wait and wouldnt have had to leave a tip .
We love this place. Very time we go to Brooklyn NY we try to stop both ways and eat very thing I have eaten there has been good. We have eaten there over 20 years and never been disappointed. God bless!!! Benny from Brooklyn
We stopped by on our way to Ithaca, NY yesterday, and again on our way back to VA today, and both times were outstanding,
The service, the food, and the facilities were all top shelf, in our opinion. We felt as if we were visitng family as soon as we walked in the door.
We highly recommend giving it a try if you’re in the neighborhood! We ordered from the lunch menu, regular menu, and breakfast menu.
We have been coming to Carlisle for the past 12 years for the Mopar Nats. I never even gave the Middlesex Diner a consideration about eating there. This year we decided to eat there due to a friend of ours bragging it up. Well now I am kicking myself for not eating there years before hand. We liked it so much that we ate 2 of our dinners there. It was packed with people, but the service couldn’t have been better and we did not have to wait long for our food. I never order chicken in a restuarant, but I tried the chicken breasts stuffed with crab meat and they were great. My husband had veal parmesean and it was actually a real piece of veal and not a processed patty. My only complaint is that they give you way too much food…so if you are traveling, make sure you have a fridge at the hotel or a cooler to store the leftovers in.
Spent the weekend in Carlisle for the GM Car Show. We stopped there for dinner Saturday Night.

One of thee best diners I have ever been to. We where greated as we walked in the door. Drinks where at the table quicker than ANY service we have ever recieved. ANYWHERE else. Our waitress treated us like family.
The food OMG was it excellent. Waittress was bringing us refills almost everytime she walked by or just to check on us. Portions where HUMUNGOUS took food with us, and it was overflowing the to-go box. Will def. go back there next year, and even stop in when making trips to NY
I’ve eaten there many times because my family loves it. I must disagree. I have no desire to ever eat there again, and my family will have to live with that.
My meals are constantly wrong (undercooked, cold, the wrong order, etc), the service was never very friendly (nearly as cold as the food), and even when the food was what I ordered, it tasted unpleasant.
I suggest eating elsewhere.
You must not be going to the same Middlesex Diner I go to! I love the place! My car buddies love the place! We try to eat as many meals at the diner as we can before we have to return to OH during the All Chrysler Nats. Heck, I am even tempted sometimes to drive the 7 hours from OH just for the peanut butter cup pancakes!
Im from puerto rico, my first time there was in 2004.The service was exelent, plenty of food and the most delicios french toast i ever ate. I went back in 2011 with my family and ate therethe whole week; breakfast and diner and again was very good service and food.Im going back in june to the ford show and my first stop will be there to eat my favorites french toast and other delicious plates, thank you.
We stopped on April 21/2012 due to the weather conditions. Snow birds travelling back to Ontario the Red Roof Inn Clerks recommended the Middlesex restraunt along with acouple of others and we choose Middlesex. We can’t say enough how good our meal was along with the staff. We plan on stopping there again when we returnt to Florida.
the food is just all right. I dont care what anyone says!! The place does have very freindly staff and decent prices. But it just cant compare to my southern diners. The Food is just very bland no spice like i say its just ok!!
We live in Ohio and look forward to eating here when we visit PA. Good food and a great price with decent portion sizes!!!
Nice place, large menu selection, great portions, friendly service. Good on cleanliness, including the restroom. I would recommend this diner above any other in Carlisle.
On Sunday 1/30 I had my second experience with cold food and poor service on a take out order. When the order was ready I asked that it be placed in a box for easier carrying. We had ordered three meals, two with salads one with soup. A heavier container was placed on top of the soup breaking the lid and causing it to spill all over the other containers as well as the seat of my car. The soup,of course, was gone. When I got home and unpacked the meal I also found that the FF were COLD. We live five minutes away. This was our second negative experience in a month. After 5 years of buying take-out it appears that service and product have slipped.
I have been a regular customer of the Middlesex Diner for years. The efficiency of the kitchen has definitely degraded lately. Im not sure if they have cut-back on staff but service is significanlt slower than it has traditionally been. Two of the last four trips – we had to eventually ask for the order to be converted to a “to go order’ because we just couldnt wait any longer.
I still like the Diner though
EXCELLENT food and VERY reasonable prices! Love the crab stuffed flounder! Generous portions! Cream of broccoli soup is great too(sunday)! Anyone who gives this place a bad review must have poor taste. Bill for 4 people was 10 to $20 less than what I expected it would be. This place is awesome! Have been going there occasionally (not often enough) for about 10 years. Excellent waitresses too…would recommend this place to everyone!
I have been eating at the Middlesex Diner for over 15 years and have never had a bad meal or poor service. The prices for a family are very reasonable and much better than fast food and actually cheaper than McDonald’s or Burger King and much better food . Love this place and will always stop on my trips north from Martinsburg WV
First Time There On 7/6/10, had breakfast very good . I will stop there from know on. Service was great. I travel a lot, great find.
As far as I am concerned, no trip to Carlisle (I am from Gilbertsville PA about 100 miles away) is complete without a visit to The Middlesex Diner!
I have been going there 4 to 6 times a year sometimes for multiple days for many years now. During the car shows, they add extra staff and you are always in and out quickly.
I highly recommend the Broiled Flounder and The Italian Wedding Soup for dinner and the breakfasts are fantastic. The service is always quick and friendly, the prices are really reasonable, the food is very good and plentiful…what more could you want?
Used to go there and the food was average. Last time was there was about 2 years ago, and the place was dirty, the service was terrible and the food was the worst that I’ve ever had. Will not go back ever again!!
I LOVE the Middlesex Diner! The chicken ranch wrap is my absolute favorite! My mom likes the chicken stuffed with crabmeat and my dad always eats one of the specials. My brother eats breakfast!
I have stopped at the Middlesex Diner for the last six years each time I come through the Carlisle area (I am from Hagerstown, MD). Most times I am with a group. The food is VERY GOOD, the service is friendly and very attentive andt he price has always been more than fair. I would highly recommend this establishment to any local or anyone passing through. It is just off of exit 52B on Interstate 81 in Carlisle, PA. One note I’d like to make is that the “breakfast” menu and food is fantastic.
Ate there once and have NO desire to go there again!
