We had dinner tonight at the Country Oven of Carlisle. The service was good. My wife had crab cakes, they were OK, the waiter said they were lump crab meat, they were not. I had the haddock special, it was over cooked. We had a gift certificate from Shari’s Berries that we received when we ordered berries for a relative in March 2011. When we gave it the presented it with our bill, we were told that they did not take it. It said right on the certificate that it was from the issueing restaurant. They said it was no longer good because they changed their menu. We went back and forth with calls to the manager and owner, finally a waitress said she would just pay it. I said I would pay the bill + tip and I was leaving, they were welcome to call the police.

Do Not get this Country Oven(harrisburg pike ) confused with the Counrty Oven in Linglestown(the prime rib in Linglestown is the real deal! ).
Harrisburg Pike country oven was one of the worst meals I’ve tried to consume in my life. The prime Rib was paper thin and dry,no Aujus, and the Baked Potato wasn’t done The staff had a hard time just trying to tell us what beverages they served, the iced tea had NO ice and was loaded with sugar at the bottom of the glass. My 9 year old daughter wanted cheesy pizza and fries turned out they were out of both, how can you be out of fries? Ended up getting Spagetti and dry meatballs.First thing they asked when we entered was Do You Have A COUPON gave us a Different Menu that was limited in choices ( 1 page ) that averaged $20.00 a plate. NEVER AGAIN!!

February 28, 2011 – Be aware if you intend to use a restaurant.com coupon here that you will be given a different menu where all the prices are $5 to $10 more than their regular menu. When we presented the coupon, they took our menu from us and brought another one where prices averaged $25. We advised we felt this was unacceptable and left.

Went tonight 11/19/10 – worst meal we ever had in our lives. Thank goodness for the $25.00 certificate we had, as the meals were very expensive. The prime rib was overdone, dry and tasteless. The salmon tasted fish and old. We left more than 1/2 our meals – the baked potatoes were good. [edit]

Ourur whole family went at easter time.
The atmosphere was nice, the waitress was nice, but the food was not.
The lasgna they just brought was cold. My brother in law got a piece and it was cold. The chicken was cold too. It was not worth the price we paid. There were a lot of people in front of us and behind us that were not happy.

We visited the Country Oven last night. We were seated in what I suppose was the main dining area. It was freezing cold. The waitress was very good, friendly and it always amazes me when dinner orders can be taken w/out writing any thing down and get it right. We were advised the salad wasn’t up to par due to the bad growing season. We ordered off the “big” menu. There were only two beef choices listed. Filet mignon and prime rib. We were informed when we tried to order filets that the filet order didn’t come in. As I couldn’t get the prime rib cooked the way I liked, I was told I could have a t-bone steak. I like mine rare-bloody. It was rare, but absolutely juiceless and gristly. The breading on the fried shrimp was a bit gooey inside. Not thoroughly cooked. There were only 3 choices of dessert left as “everything sold out over the holiday”. I would have appreciated being told what wasn’t available when we were given our menus. The waitress was great, the service was fast, but the meal was mediocre at best. and we were downright cold…I don’t think we will be going back.

I have recently tried the resturant the counrty oven. The host took my husband and I to the main dinning room. It was wonderful and had just the best atmosphere. The server was great. My husband and I ordered a New York strip steak, mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of garlic bread. The food was phenomenal!!! I will definitly come back.

The food was excellent, and great atmosphere. The prices were reasonably priced based upon the meal we had chose, which were the prime rib and fried shrimp combination, and my wife having the slow roasted turkey with gravy and filling. We will be back again!
