Chapparrita’s shrimp carribean burrito was perfect and scrumptious!
We found this place as it was on the Corvettes at Carlisle parade route. In fact, we sat curbside to wave to our friends and as they passed by we enjoyed one of the best Mexican light-dinners ever. Completely spoiled!
Only there for the weekend, we returned again before leaving Carlisle and had another great meal. The service and care from the family was absolutely warm and genuine.
Can’t wait to return!

I first heard about Chaparrita’s from a friend who was quite dissatisfied with their experience. In spite of that, my daughter and I decided to have an adventure.
I am so glad we did. Chaparrita’s has become one of my favorite restaurants.
The decor is minimal but unintrusive.
The food seems to be Mexican home style. It is flavorful and varied.
I enjoy some spice with my food and my wife doesn’t. In spite of that we can both find dishes to suit our tastes. While None of my family has had a bad meal I will recommend the tacos (that seem to be close to real Mexican street food). I particularly recommend the taco al pastor that is not found up here very often.
Finally I have to talk about the most Mexican feature of the restaurant- the service. It is family owned and run and because of that they treat you like family. They are warm and gracious and serve down home cooking to friends.

We’ve been back several times since I first commented on Chapparrita’s, and have now enjoyed the carnitas (pork) burrito. Hearty and flavorful, this is one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Continued friendly service and quality food have made this restaurant one of our favorites in Carlisle.

We have been to Chapparrita’s on North Hanover Street twice, once for lunch, and once for dinner. It seems to be family-run, and the service is friendly. They are a bit different from the other local Mexican restaurants–the concentration here is on properly prepared Mexican-style food, not just hot peppers and melted cheese. They use real queso fresco, not shredded jack or cheddar cheese, for instance. Ask for their medium hot sauce to spice things up a bit, if you like. We and others we have talked to have all said that it reminds them of what they had in Mexico. The fried tacos are excellent, and not at all oily. The enchiladas were served with a tasty, tangy green sauce, but are also available with a red sauce. The cheese and pepper tamales were tastier than the chicken. The dishes are reasonable, and it was nice to be able to bring out own beer. We’re looking forward to trying more of the items on their menu.
